The 2019 Washington Math Olympiad (WAMO) will be held at Hanford H.S. on April 27. They need volunteers to proctor and grade contest answers. This is really an interesting opportunity because of the nature of the contest. There are the typical short answer test events, but there is also the "long problem," which asks students to answer multiple questions about a scenario. Perhaps more important than the answer is that the students have to communicate their strategy/approach and rationale. So, it makes for interesting grading to see how the students approached the problem and what solution they come up with. Of course there are grading rubrics and answer keys to facilitate the grading process. It is a good experience and you are encouraged to volunteer.
