Delta's freshmen class will engage with several opportunities to explore high need STEM career areas like cyber security. PNNL is offering two sessions to help students explore what cyber security is. Students will attend both sessions - either in the morning or afternoon- at CBC. 2-3 Volunteers are needed to speak briefly about their careers in cyber security and/or to assist students with the planned activities. Additional volunteers are needed to assist students, especially in the Intro session listed below. There are two opportunities to assist - 9:15-11:15 am or 12-2 pm. Both would involve a repeat session with a second set of students.
Intro to Cyber Security - teams of students will collaborate to complete an Unplugged Capture the Flag Challenge (similar to Pink Elephant Unicorn, but no computers needed). Areas explored include Reconnaissance, Forensics, Cryptography, Reverse Engineering and Steganography. During this time each team will have a chance to engage in a VR experience about Networks and an AR experience on Computer Hardware. 1-2 Career Guest speakers will briefly share what they do in cyber security.
The Internet and Safety- Activities address Safety on Social Media, Intro to Phishing, Cryptography and how encryption protects you and Malware/How the internet works with the MicroBit 1-2 Career Guest Speakers will briefly share what they do in cyber security.
